Demolition Weekend #1

Here we are driving through traffic to our townhouse in Port Moody. It's the morning and we're full of energy.

Here's Michelle standing with a tiny pile of debris.

My Dad came to help run a few loads to the dump. This weekend we did 4 trips, and still one more is needed! In this picture Jon is speaking with the strata president who lives below. We've had bad luck and the water from either our toilet or hot water tank is leaking into his unit below. We'll probably be expecting a bill. Today I had the worst time working with the toilet. I turned off the valve behind the toilet and then thought the ceiling was leaking because I could feel water very lightly spraying onto my arm. The water didn't come from the ceiling it was actually the bottom seal that must have be broken and it was spraying, yuck yuck yuck. Actually whatever I'm still alive the germs didn't kill me.

A gigantic job for us girls was cleaning the windows. Michelle and I attacked this job for the last 2 days while the guys did most of the demolition. They had to pull out the entire kitchen, all the paneling, all the shelves, and all the doors. Each window took about and hour too, we had to scrub ad then re-scrub every little corner. The first day I forgot to bring my kettle and only had cold water, the day with warm water was sooo much better.

It was super exciting when the window did in fact come out sparkling clean. It was fantastic to realize that we won't be needing to spend and extra $8000 plus for new windows in the unit.

Here I am pulling up loose floor bits. We've been told that in order to install laminate over the old floor we don't have to rip up this old lyno. We can actually use a type of plaster to, fill in the holes and then lie the floor right on top. It was music to my ears!

Another pic of the kitchen pre-demo.

After the kitchen was pulled and Michelle and I spent 10 minutes sweeping cobwebs. I was very excited to have a clean looking kitchen. It felt so great to get rid of everything and the strong urine smell has even started to subside.

Spotless lol
